Oribi Gorge is a beautiful farming region just inland from the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. The Oribi Gorge Guest Farm, a three-cottage establishment on a working farm right on the edge of the Gorge, has been in operation for about 20 years. Although they had an existing site, they felt it was time for an update both of the site and the photography, and asked me to work on something with them.
Here are a list of the elements I worked on for Oribi Gorge Guest Farm.
- Landing page
- Site style guide
- Site map
- Site design & build
- Social media set-up
- Mailchimp set-up
- Squarespace + Mailchimp tutorials
Logo & Design Elements
They wanted to emphasise soft forest greens, neutral tones and a touch of aubergine in their colour palette, inspired by the misty heather-covered highlands of Scotland. The logo was designed by Tyler-Paige, daughter of the Langton family and design student.
Template & Customisation
I chose the Maple template, which is part of the Brine family, for its scrolling effects and customizable gallery layouts. I customised the site according to the look and feel we had discussed, introducing the colour palette via footers, buttons, links and headings. The overall feel was calm, toned down and elegant. I used 'Freight Sans Pro' and 'Futura PT' as a font combination for the headings, body and other bits and pieces.
Here's a little selection of some of the photos I took of the cottages and interiors, the farm and surrrounds, and the Gorge view point.
Thanks so much to the owners and staff at Oribi Gorge Guest Farm for the opportunity to work with them on updating their online presence, as well as their site photography. If you're looking for a quiet, restful weekend away up in the Gorge, go and have a look at their options and rates and book yourself in!
If you've been thinking about putting together a site for your Bn'B, guest house, or venue, I'd love to work with you. Drop me a line and let's chat.
